Let’s go back to school in style
It’s a new season and new school year for kids all around the world. And H&M have everything they need to stroll into the school yard and make this the best term yet. From denim, t-shirts, hoodies and functional outerwear to shoes, backpacks and accessories, there’s a versatile mix of everyday staples and the latest fashion for kids. In collegiate colours like red, dark green and strong blue, plus shades of pink, purple and green, H&M’s kidswear is all about taking on the new term in style.
A key item for the back-to-school season is denim, a classic staple and oh, so durable! Fits are more loose and baggy this season, which creates a cool and effortless look for all that studying and playing around. The coolest feature, however, is that this denim makes use of textile waste, such as leftover textiles from production or recycled garments. Pair your jeans with t-shirts, crewnecks and hoodies in varsity-inspired graphics, current prints and fun vibes.
Each piece has thoughtful design details. Like ribbed cuffs, half-zip tops and rugby collars for that sporty look or adjustable waists on all denim. Frills instil a sense whimsy. And check out the colour-blocking on the clothes for a retro-modern edge and side pockets on backpacks for a water bottle.
“At H&M, we really take pride in understanding what kids and their parents need when it comes to getting the young ones dressed. Back to school is an exciting and hectic time so we try to take some guesswork out of it by creating everyday staples, functional items and fashion-forward pieces that can be easily mixed and matched,” says Sofia Löfstedt, Head of Kidswear Design at H&M.
As school starts, kids will have to be prepared for whatever the weather throws at them! When temperatures start to dip, lighter outerwear like baseball jackets fit the bill – and remember to add a cosy fleece to layer underneath as we move further into autumn. Layers, of course, are always a clever way to make garments more verstaile. And when it rains, soft shell jackets with hoods made from recycled polyester are great protection!
And don’t forget about backpacks and other accessories: kit your kids with backpacks that have details like adjustable straps, multiple pockets inside and out, padded backs and top handles. Shoes are retro in look, but made for today. Beanies, ball caps and bucket hats are equal parts stylish and practical, keeping all those developing minds warm.
“I think both kids and parents really look forward to the back-to-school period. It’s a special feeling to know kids will be learning new things, spending more time with friends and starting to explore how they express themselves. Our part is to give practical, stylish and more sustainable choices when it comes to clothes and accessories. Good luck to all those about to start school again!” says Sofia Löfstedt.
